The Casa do Peão has its name from the old Portuguese word for farmer or peon. It refers to the Casas’ own garden in which guests are welcome to participate in growing and harvesting their own fruits and vegetables. The original stone house was first mentioned in the official registers in 1840 and it still transports the architecture from the olden days with its thick stone walls.  In 2015/2016, it has been fully renovated and new bedrooms and bathrooms have been added, resulting in two independent units:

Lareira refers to the chimney that dominates the spacious living room of this part of the house and invites to spend time in front of the fire after a long day of exploring the island. Furthermore, it is equipped with a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a bathtub for relaxation.  It has a small kitchen corner with a water boiler, Nescafé Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine, microwave, small fridge and toaster for light cooking only.

Lareira and Padeira are jointly booked by reserving Casa do Peão.
